Children

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

In the sacrament of baptism the Edgemont congregation is asked, “Do you as a congregation undertake the responsibility of assisting the parents in the Christian nurture of this child?” We respond yes and take this responsibility seriously in providing nursery, children’s church, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and youth group.

The protection of your precious child is of utmost concern. Every person working with your baby through High Schooler has a criminal background check and we abide by a two person policy. Additionally, you will notice cameras throughout the church. Every child will have a parent or guardian fill out a form providing information and contact information to include cell phone.

Nursery is provided during the Sunday School time – 9:45 – 10:30, running through the end of the morning worship service. The Nursery is located to the right of the parking side entrance door. If a parent desires, the infant is welcome to stay with the parent in the service. Pastor Aaron will not be upset by a baby’s noise or child’s noise. The noise is the future of the church.

Children’s Church is geared to 4 year olds to 3rd graders. Children pick up their worship activity bag with their name that includes a children’s bulletin (a 3+ or a 7+age bulletin) geared to the Sunday’s Scripture lesson and quiet activities. There are visitor worship activity bags at the entrance to the worship room (Sanctuary). Prior to the sermon, the children go out with the Children’s Church teacher to the Nursery and Children’s Church room where an age appropriate lesson on the 10 Commandments, the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus’ parables, and His birth, life, death, and resurrection is presented. Crafts and a memory verse go with the lesson.
