Mother's Day, May 12

Come and worship with us at 10:50 as we honor our mothers.

For many people it is a day of celebrating the love, compassion and nurture our mother’s offer.  We give flowers, candy, cards, and take them out to eat.  How many will take into consideration all that the Lord has said about honoring our mothers?  After all, mothers are the child barriers and usually the primary care giver, and because they have contact with their children over a long growing period, they have an extraordinary effect on them, often well into their adult lives.

From a believer’s point of view there is no clearer picture of this than in Second Timothy 1:5 where Paul, speaking to Timothy says, “I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and I am persuaded now lives in you.”

May 12th is but one day.  However, it is every daily life the Lord calls out ladies like a Lois or Eunice to do great things for His Kingdom, to make a spiritual investment by being walking testimonies and Godly sincerity of faith.

As we approach this Mother’s Day in celebration, may we do so with the words of Proverbs 31:28-29, “Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her, many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.

Game Night, May 18 at 6-8pm

READY FOR AN ADVENTURE?  I’M GAME1

What do you think of when you hear and see the words Faith, Friends, Family, Food, and Fun?  Here at Edgemont Presbyterian Church, we think of them adding up to Game Night.  Sometimes we all need an outlet to kick back and be ourselves, sharing our lives in an informal setting.  Proverbs 17:22 tells us “a cheerful heart is good medicine.”  With that in mind, Edgemont is pleased that on Saturday, May 18th between 6 – 8pm we will be hosting a Game Night in our Fellowship Hall.  The event is geared for all ages and the public is warmly invited.  There will plenty of food (hot dogs, etc), various games to include board and giant Jenga, all intended to bring laughter, a sense of inclusion, fellowship, and conversation.  Mark that date on your calendar and bring a friend.  Make those words Faith, Friends, Family, and Fun more than what you see or hear – EXPERIENCE THEM!,

Vacation Bible School, June 23 - 27 6-8:30pm

Did you know that over half the world’s species live in a jungle, filled with mystery, intrigue, and dangers?  These things lead to many questions.  The word jungle comes from a Sanskrit word meaning uncultivated land.  Similarly, every day our children are bombarded with questions.  Did God really create everything?  Why do bad things happen?  Was Noah’s ark real?  Why do I need to be saved?

For our children the world is a jungle out there; so any things that can sway them in the wrong direction.  Just as the jungle is uncultivated, so are the minds of many of our children when it comes to knowing about God.

This summer, Sunday evenings June 23 – 27 from 6 – 8:30pm, Edgemont Presbyterian Church will host a VBS titled the Great Jungle Journey for children K – rising 7th grade.  They will embark on an imaginary river cruise stopping at 7 ports of call over 5 days.  The children will learn the 7 Cs of history – creation, corruption, catastrophe, confusion, Christ, cross, consummation.  At each port they will be exploring some of their unanswered questions.  They will take a thrilling ride from the beginning of time to the end (and all will be about Jesus).

Along the jungle journey there will be songs, videos, crafts, food, and recreation.  For more information about our upcoming VBS please contact us at [email protected]
